Mason Jones does a great job on Morceau, everyone likes danse bachannalle, the piano concerto is great, it's just a really enjoyable CD to own. I recommend it highly, it's one of my favorites.

Reflections: Carly Simon's Greatest Hits
Reflections: Carly Simon's Greatest Hits
Reflections: Carly Simon's Greatest Hits Artist: Carly Simon (Usually ships in 24 hours) Excellent purchase Service was quick and accurate...the CD is of great quality and i would definately use this website and supplier again to purchase a product This is the definite Carly Simon collection. This is my all-time favorite collection of songs by my all-time favorite singer. I had all the songs spread out on several CD, even some still on LP's (yes, they are still out there) and I bought this one rather than havgin to ask someone to copy the songs and burn them onto a CD-R. I don't know how to do that.

I simply love this collection as they seem to have improved the audio quality as well. Overall, quite good This compilation of Carly Simon is quite good, my only complaint would be that the whole compilation should have focused on her 70's-80's work and could have left the 90's and beyond, out. Her 70's and 80's work was her prime work and very good! This compilation has great sound and Carly Simon has a beautiful voice, she sung some really great songs and I'm happy that I got this disc. I would definately recommend it!

Michael Card - Joy in the Journey: 10 Years of Greatest Hits
Michael Card - Joy in the Journey: 10 Years of Greatest Hits
Michael Card - Joy in the Journey: 10 Years of Greatest Hits Artist: Michael Card (Usually ships in 24 hours) THE REAL "SUMMER OF LOVE" MICHAEL CARD's Greatest Hits compilation was released in 1994 - one of the best years of my life. I recall hearing the song 'WHY?' for the first time in my (then) girlfriend's car, just as we were entering the eastbound I-10 onramp at Sepulveda Boulevard. Only a couple of months earlier, on April 6, while alone in an apartment in a grungy area of Los Angeles, I was quite unexpectedly driven to my knees, where Jesus Baptized me with The Holy Spirit. I didn't exactly know what had happened to me , or why - only that I was suddenly changed somehow. Obviously, that was a special year for this reviewer, and when I heard Michael Card sing, "WHY DID THEY NAIL HIS FEET AND HANDS WHEN HIS LOVE WOULD HAVE HELD HIM THERE?" it perfectly described the Fire I felt inside me, and the Love that I knew Jesus has for us! I asked my girlfriend to replay that song several times. For me, that remains one of the greatest lines ever written about my Savior King. And although I don't play it often, 'JOY IN THE JOURNEY' always takes me back to that magical year of rebirth.

Michael Card does not have a particularly great voice, but it adequately conveys the obviously heartfelt convictions of his nicely crafted Gospel songs. What makes Card special is his lyrics; he is Christian Rock's premier wordsmith, able to create songs around deep theological concepts. He overreaches at times ("...the universe fell from His Fingertips."; "...He sent His only Son and so became a Holy Embryo."), but that's the cost of creating fresh, unique expressions, and attempting to translate the Mystery into song. There may be an occasional misstep, but there's no doggerel verse here - just first class Christian poetry sung with sincerity, and sometimes backed by surprisingly powerful "electric" passion ('Known By The Scars', 'Scandalon', 'So Many Books', and my favorite track, 'Know You In The Now.') I'm rarely impressed by the lyrics of most songwriters, but consider these lines :

HE CANNOT LOVE MORE, AND WILL NOT LOVE LESS

WE IN OUR WEAKNESS BELIEVED WE WERE STRONG / HE BECAME HELPLESS TO SHOW WE WERE WRONG...
FOR THE POWER OF PARADOX OPENS YOUR EYES / AND BLINDS THOSE WHO SAY THEY CAN SEE

THAT IS THE MYSTERY, MORE THAN YOU CAN SEE / GIVE UP YOUR PONDERING AND FALL DOWN ON YOUR KNEES
NO FICTION AS FANTASTIC AND WILD / A MOTHER MADE BY HER OWN CHILD

TO HEAR WITH MY HEART, TO SEE WITH MY SOUL / TO BE GUIDED BY A HAND I CANNOT HOLD
TO TRUST IN A WAY THAT I CANNOT SEE / THAT'S WHAT FAITH MUST BE

THERE IS A JOY IN THE JOURNEY, THERE'S A LIGHT WE CAN LOVE ON THE WAY
THERE IS A WONDER AND WILDNESS TO LIFE, AND FREEDOM FOR THOSE WHO OBEY

TO BE SO COMPLETELY GUILTY, GIVEN OVER TO DESPAIR
TO LOOK INTO YOUR JUDGE'S FACE AND SEE A SAVIOR THERE

Now THAT'S what I call "writing!" Most of these tracks are enthusiastic and catchy. If they played this stuff on Christian radio I'd tune in once in awhile.

Michael Card's, 'JOY IN THE JOURNEY' puts joy in my journey, and it calls to mind my personal "Summer Of Love." And when this world douses my spirit, 'JOY IN THE JOURNEY' can fan my embers into a Divine Flame again. Brothers and Sisters, I think you'll like it too. Powerful Theological Truths in Music Form Music is powerful. The Bible makes this clear. Within the heart of man is a desire to release their emotions, affections, dreams, concerns, even theological truths in musical form. The Psalms (literally "praises") were written with all forms of human emotions but contained truths focused on God's Word (Psalm 119 is a prime example).

Today, however, it seems Christian music has lost its theological focus. Its now more bent on experience or a "personal relationship with Jesus." Songs taken from the Scriptures and the truth therein is found mainly in some praise worship artists and Michael Card. Card is a theologian who happens to play guitar. His love and passion for the Scriptures flows in his songs. From El Shaddai to The Final Word, Card takes deep theological truths and put them to music.

There is a silent revolution taking place in Christian music. The likes of Keith Green, Steve Camp, John Fisher, and Michael Card is not lost. God is reviving musicians who desire to glorify God alone! And I'm happy to endorse this album as an example of that revolution. Simply the Best! Michael Card is a pure muscial genius. What's better is he has decided to devote his gift to Christ. I have listened to practically all Christian artists and Michael Card is the King. Without any doubt. If you don't own this man's album, shame on you. Each of his songs are so deep, thoughtful, and annoited. My dad always says he could preach a sermon on each of Card's songs. I agree. His best includes: Scandalon, Starkindler, Known By the Scars, Know You in the Now, How Long, The Dragon, Into the Mystery, Celebrate the Child, The Final Word, God's Own Fool, Why?, Joy In the Journey, Salvation, Jubilee, You are Worthy, Soul Anchor, and many more. I can't say enough about this man and his music. BUY THIS CD!

Definitive Hits
Definitive Hits
Definitive Hits Artist: Herb Alpert (Usually ships in 24 hours) Click Here for more information In an era when elaborate wordplay and adventurous production were the order of the day, Herb Alpert made an impact barely uttering a word or breaking a mold, other than expanding the commercial parameters for pop instrumentalists. Dashing trumpeter Alpert and his Tijuana Brass scored five top-20 hits between 1962 (when "The Lonely Bull" climbed to No. 11 in the U.S.) and 1968 (when the vocal-driven "This Guy's in Love with You" cracked the top 10), racking up five No. 1 albums over the same period. The group's patented "Ameriachi" sound made up in south-of-the-border sprightliness what it lacked in innovation; the likes of "Spanish Flea" and "Casino Royale" possessed the kind of unshakable hooks that fit perfectly on top-40 radio sandwiched between Nancy Sinatra and the Mamas the Papas. This 20-track overview serves up 13 selections from the Tijuana Brass's heyday and is rounded up with seven Alpert solo selections, including comeback hits from 1979 ("Rise") and '87 ("Diamonds"). --Steven Stolder Ole! Herb Alpert and TJB! Hearing the recordings by Herb and the TJB after many years brought me back to why I enjoyed them during high school. When I heard "Lonely Bull", it was immediately back in my heart along with memories.

Not every hit or recording is on the CD, but it does give enough to introduce new listeners to the artistry of Herb Alpert as it does represent his range from the latin based sounds of TJB into his later recordings.

Being that he recorded all trumpet parts in these recordings, it shows his musical intuition in pulling all those harmonies to lay well together. I always thought it was another trumpet (or trumpets), but I read in the liner notes, it was all Herb!

Of his solo recordings (meaning the later ones sans TJB) I especially like Fandango. (Will admit I heard it first on this CD.)

The title calls this "definitive" hits, and it makes sense. Considering there is more to his catalogue, one can hope that more will be released over time. I still have the "Rise" 45 and the B side was Herb's "Aranjuez" based on Joaquin Rodrigo's guitar adagio of the same name. There are many "B" sides of those original 45s that should be re-released, not just the "hits".

Definitely "Definitive" Having been a fan of Herb Alpert for years, I've been searching for more than just a "greatest hits" CD. This compilation does it! Superb! I'd highly recommend this CD. Definitive Hits review When I first learned that there were a number of albums that Herb Alpert put together that I hadn't heard of, I just couldn't wait to get my hands on them. But sound quality is poor and CD is not fluid.
Kind of skippy. Great compilation! I bought this album only for one song and a couldn't believe the variety of hits this guy had written or performed... This is a great compilation, there will be no doubts after hearing Wilson Pickett that he was a mayor influence on artists such as The Rolling Stones. Enjoy it! Wilson Pickett is Great! The seven songs leaves you wanting more every time track seven ends but it is still worth the purchase. Reminds me of the beach This is an awesome EP! And while it IS too short, it's also an... EP. So, why's it so good? Every song is smooth, feel good and funky. How could it not be with Jack Johnson, G. Love, Donavon Frankenreiter and, the highlight of the album, Zach Gill. When I put it in my CD player pure fun pours out. While all six tracks are great, the highlight is Zach Gill's Girl I Wanna Lay You Down. If there ever was a great make-out song this is it;) My other favorite is Free, written by Donavon, which is just so... free. When I listen to this EP I feel like I'm at the beach on a nice sunny day surfing with my friends and cooking hotdogs over an open fire. Awesome! As always Jack does not disappoint.... Great CD, wish there were even more songs on it!! Jack is outstanding.
